The Caps have already clinch the Southeast division.  That’s a combo of having a really good team and getting to play Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Florida, and Carolina about 8 million times per year.  But don’t take this team lightly.  They’ve scored 266 goals going into today.  That’s about 40 goals more than Vancouver, who’s second in goals score with 225.  They have some guy name Ovechkin who you might have heard of.  IDK…I’ve heard he’s kinda good.

The Caps are one of the elite.  They’re the type of team the Hawks would need to beat to win the Cup.  They’ve got Mike Green, one of Keith’s competition for the Norris.  He is heavy on the offense back there.

Hopefully Toews regains his Olympic form today.  He shut down Ovechkin during the Canada-Russia game and caused the Russian superstar to go all emo on English-speaking reporters.

Keys to today’s game for the Hawks: Don’t take penalties and shore up the defense.  The goals will come.  The Caps don’t have great defense or penalty killing, but if they get into a track meet, the Hawks might now be able to run with the boys from DC. Varlamov vs Niemi will be an interesting “young goalie trying to earn the confidence of the team” matchup.
